Miso soup made from scratch will always be the best, but when I'm traveling, I have no shame about sipping the instant stuff. It's a tasty, energy-boosting alternative to all the fatty and sugary foods you usually find on the road, plus it's super light to pack!?
A someone with a ton of dietary restrictions, I can't rely on the foods I might find at gas stations, airports, and hotel continental breakfasts. But as long as I have a few packets of instant, powdered miso soup and access to a cup and hot water, I'm good to go.?
I'm also highly sensitive to caffeine and find that this snack-slash-drink can provide the energy lift I miss from coffee or tea.?Miso contains protein, B vitamins (especially B12), and trace minerals. Miso soup with seaweed is even more nutritious.?
Note: if you're like me and can't eat gluten, look for miso soup made with brown rice and wheat-free tamari rather than?wheat, barley, or soy sauce.?
Do you eat instant miso soup? Any favorite brands to recommend??
