Lots of dogs and cats are waiting to be adopted at the Yolo County Animal Shelter, 2640 E. Gibson Road in Woodland. Among them is Chester (No. 104254), a 1-year-old ?neutered male domestic, medium-haired cat with an orange tabby-and-white coat. Also hoping for a good home is Garvy (No. 103618), a 1-year-old neutered male pit bull/?Labrador retriever mix dog. ?Garvy is a sweet, gentle soul who loves to approach you and seek out affection,? a shelter spokesperson said. ?He is the perfect size (40 pounds) ? small enough to fit in your lap, but big enough to keep up with you on a fun adventure.? Fees are charged for licensing and spaying or neutering, if necessary. The shelter is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays (closed for lunch from 1 to 2 p.m. each day).
