At the collegiate level, while not having many colleges or universities actually located within Cherokee County, the centralized allows for easy access to the surrounding educational institutions. Reinhardt College and University is located 5 miles north of Canton in nearby Waleska, GA.
Tax Advantages for Residents
One of Canton’s strong points has definitely got to be the low property taxes. The average Cherokee County resident pays only $1600 per year in property taxes compared to almost twice that in neighboring Forsyth and Fulton Counties. The tax burden here is very low also when compared to most counties in north of Atlanta.
Climate for Canton
Canton’s climate is similar to most of North Georgia. The northern mountainous part of the county tends to receive more harsh weather in the winter than the rest of the county. Like most of the south, hot summers and mild winters are to be expected. Rainfall is average, even though the level has been down over the last 3 years.
